In response to the uncertainties of the trajectory of the COVID-19 pandemic, paired with the knowledge we gained from two years of virtual programming, the 2022 Northwest Folklife Festival will be our first in person/virtual hybrid event!
The past two years have presented a myriad of challenges as well as opportunities, and we look forward to exploring how we can best serve artists and participants in our region through this flagship event. While we missed gathering and celebrating in person, doing so virtually provided us with the chance to bring our program to those who otherwise wouldn’t be able to attend, and expanded our reach globally.
While we are in the process of developing what exactly a hybrid Festival will encompass, we know it will include some of the participatory and celebratory aspects of the 2020 and 2021 virtual Festival, and provide opportunities for Northwest Folklife Festival lovers around the world to join in the celebration to connect with other Festival goers live and online.
For those able to gather in person, we look forward to seeing you safely on Seattle Center Grounds, May 27-30. We are working closely with city officials to follow proper protocols and guidance as they are updated. At this point, we are planning to schedule programming both on outside stages and indoor theaters, and will address the unique health and safety concerns on a venue by venue basis. Note that indoor venues will be monitored more closely and may come with specific limitations given the capacity and other considerations. Please check back to this page for updates concerning specific COVID-19 safety requirements as we will update here as they change per city and state mandates. For any specific questions regarding COVID-19 policies please contact email@example.com .
We do not require any pre registration or applications to attend the in person festival as an audience member. For the past 50 years, Northwest Folklife has remained ticketless and by donation only, and that won’t be changing!
