We are really excited to provide a more hands on creative space this year. So often, festivals like ours rely on music, dance, and food--all of which are important--but we also want to emphasize that the folk tradition of making things is part and parcel of this experience. Rooted in this new component is the idea of DIY mentality. Whether it's basket weaving, ceramics, or knot tying, these hands-on activities have deep origin stories from all around the world.
By providing this Makers’ Space, we are hoping to encourage and instill a sense of wonder and imagination in our own creative energies and curiosities. As well, we are hoping to pique people's interest in the deep well of resources and organizations that teach and engage those curiosities around the city, county, state, and region.
Like the rest of the festival, these hands-on activities will be free and open for all ages to participate. We're delighted to introduce this new component to the festival, we hope you have fun!
