Dumisani Maraire (1944-199) is a Zimbabwean musician who has left a legacy in the Pacific Northwest. First arriving in Seattle in 1968 as a visiting artist for the University of Washington's Ethnomusicology department, Dumi stayed in Washington state until 1982 as a teacher and a performing artist. He was a master marimba and mbira player and in this recording, you can hear the marimba ensemble as well as a rattle instrument called hosho.
