In this recording, Alex Eppler (1955-2019) is featured playing the Kaval, a chromatic end-blown flute traditionally played throughout the Balkans and Anatolia, as well as the Balalaika, a Russian stringed instrument with a triangular, wooden, and hollow body. There also seems to be a string band caught in the last 3 minutes of this archival recording! How fun, though it's probably not Alex Eppler playing there.
