Topic: Festival - Transportation & Lodging / Metro Shuttle -- what happened to it? do you mean route 16? which runs about every half an hour or route 5 which also runs about every half an hour or the 41 which runs every 15 minuets? are you talking about those? Come on John…stop being a lazy liberal and do for your self every once and a while. And if you are looking for an excuse to drive…I have ALWAYS found a place to park near the entrance and the short walk will do you good…I for one will be taking the metro rail as I live out near the airport…and I paid for it I might as well use it…at least once. |

Topic: Festival - Missed Connections / Don't Want To Miss A Beat! Into Me See the Music We want to film you! We have a livestream TV channel on our web site; and we’d like to put you on our channel at the Folklife Festival! To apply with media to evaluate, text 425.876.0966 with “count me in”; or email the media to the above email; and put high priority on the subject, with Folklife included in the subject also. Due to overwhelming interest in our new project, a music-only social network, we’re back logged; and this will streamline your response. Also, we’re building an exclusive, music-only, social networking site. We’re using the F8 platform, Live Stream, which is the foundation for Facebook! We’re looking for 10 people to get in on the ground level. If you’re interested, please contact me ASAP. Positions are few and the requests to join are plentiful…but I’m being VERY selective in who’s who with this site. I aim to have a site that musicians, bands, support industry, and the fans that support us…KNOW without a DOUBT…that this is a safe place; a place with integrity; trust; loyalty; unity through diversity; reasonably priced for services offered; etc…all of the things that the music industry is rarely popular for. But foremost…I’m looking for people to join the cooperative project that’s main passion in life is MUSIC. Playing music, listening to music, supporting music, music music music!! Money CAN’T BE your main motivator…I won’t allow it. Music is the key to healing this planet…weaving music ‘round the web is key to that healing. We believe this in our core. If you’ve come to this realization in YOUR MUSICAL PASSION…then by all means…plz contact me. Musically Yours, Brenda Meritt-Motta Chat: |

Topic: Community Events / The Tune Stranglers at The Auburn Ave Theater Here is a Show you might enjoy! Live at The Ave Presents The Tune Stranglers May 8th @ 7:30 PM Auburn Ave Theater 10 Auburn Ave. Auburn, WA 98002 Recently referred to as “a circus that plays music,” the Tune Stranglers have been entertaining audiences across the West since 2003. With a smorgasbord of stringed instruments, washboard and the occasional clarinet, they perform fabulous hot jazz and old-timey music of the 1920’s and 30’s. If good ole country and bluegrass is what you like, this band can kick up their heels and hoe down ‘til the cows come home. If you prefer sophisticated hot jazz, they’ll get slick and citified and swing you round the ballroom. The group plays everything from hot jazz to slow blues, country melodies and swingin’ rhythms, cowgirl yodelin’ to uptown croonin’. TICKETS: $17 general admission $15 students & seniors. Call Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation at 253-931-3043, Mon-Fri, 8a-5p, or Online at Brown Paper Tickets For more information call Jim Kleinbeck, Theater Operations, 253-833-5678 |

Topic: Festival - Transportation & Lodging / Metro shuttles are gone! The Federal Transportation Agency issued a policy in 2008 that prohibited government agencies such as King County/Metro from operating event shuttles. Actually, the bidding on these services needed to be opened to private companies. If a private company bid, then the government agency was out. No matter that these companies for the most part do not have the equipment to operate shuttles of the size that we operate here in Seattle: Mariner games, Seahawk games, Folklife, Bumpershoot, Husky football…just to name a few. I don’t know who if anyone is pursuing this issue but pursued it must be. I’m a metro driver of 20 years and have seen the impact this has had on our community. Anyone out there know if anything is being done to reverse this trend? This policy affects transportation agencies nationwide not just here in Seattle. |

Topic: Festival - Missed Connections / Lost & found? Err, this is the only place I honestly know where to put this. I lost my camera. And I think I lost it in the grass somewhere at Folklife on sunday. I don’t know what kind of camera it is, but it’s a digital grey camera that’s kinda bulky and has to have some weird thing to put the memory stick into. Memory stick pro, or whatnot. Also has some rechargable camera batteries in it. I didn’t know if there was a lost or found or how to contact it, because I don’t see it anywhere on here. If you can help, that would be most appreciated. Or if you found it or know someone who found it. |
