Celebrate Folklife Benefit Gala Cancelled
After reviewing the progress toward our planned Celebrate Folklife Benefit Gala scheduled for February 20, 2010, Northwest Folklife has decided to cancel the event. The Northwest Folklife staff and board made this difficult decision based on low ticket sales attributed to a tough economic climate among other factors, but not to a lack of support for the organization.
We wish to thank our primary Gala sponsor, Boeing, our friends, volunteers and those who donated to our silent auction for their continued support. We are working on finding other avenues through which to raise critical funding for Northwest Folklife and our main event, the 39th annual Northwest Folklife Festival.
Stay tuned to the Northwest Folklife web site for information on events including two upcoming community benefits for Folklife produced by Lake City Contra (Thursday, March 11th) and Northwest Folkdancers Incorporated (Saturday, March 13th).
At Northwest Folklife, we are always seeking ways to provide the best opportunities to celebrate, share and sustain the traditional and cultural arts of the Pacific Northwest. If you have any suggestions or feedback for us as we plan for upcoming fundraisers, please send an email to folklife@nwfolklife.org.
