Hot Bluegrass Showcase for All Ages!Saturday, May 23, 12-3pm
Mural Amphitheatre
See why bluegrass music has fans of all ages throughout the world! Born in America, bluegrass has its roots in Celtic and Anglo-European music, but has also tapped into jazz, Gospel, African spirituals, pop, rock and other contemporary music. Bluegrass ranges from HOT tunes with dazzling improvisational breaks to soulful waltzes and four-part Gospel harmonies.
The 2009 Bluegrass Showcase features:
Stay Tuned, a popular and entertaining band with a lot of great original tunes spiced with jazzy highlights and a twist of humor; Captain Gravel, a great young band that has been pushing the envelope and experimenting with a new sound; Ida Viper, an Oregon-based band comprised of award-winning professionals; The DownTown Mountain Boys, one of the top bands in the Northwest, with dazzling instrumentals and three-part harmonies; Northern Departure, a new teen band comprised of some of the hottest young “pickers” in the Northwest.
