POP425: Old Fire House Teen Talent Showcase

So many great Seattle bands (Modest Mouse, the Blood Brothers, and Fleet Foxes to name a few) started their careers in the suburbs of the Eastside playing shows at the Old Fire House Teen Center in Redmond. The center encourages unique and innovative music with all-ages concerts, a recording studio, open mics, and opportunities for teen musicians to perform for their communities.

Get a preview of Seattle’s future music scene as we showcase young talent primarily from East King County. Performers were chosen for their terrific sound and for their commitment to supporting community. Save Kate is three teenage girls whose eclectic songs delight in the hazards of young womanhood. DeerCity aka Jeff Stillwell sings cheerful songs of heartbreak reminiscent of sixties boy bands. Since first performing in the seventh grade, eighteen year old Whitney Ballen has established herself as an immensely gifted acoustic performer and a pillar of the Eastside all-ages scene. Universal Soul’s clever rhymes vary from conceptual and psychedelic to personal and political, revealing this hip hop group’s dedication to challenging the status quo. Headlining is Spencer Sult as Generifus, creator of movingly beautiful and melancholy songs.
