Maritime Show
Saturday, May 23, 3:00 - 6:00 pm
Northwest Court Stage
Music and the sea have always gone together, even more so than sailors and rum. Maritime music is a broad genre, encompassing everything from traditional work shanties, sailor's foc'sle songs, pirate tales, and contemporary ballads. The common thread is that great human tradition of going down to the sea in ships. Since 1989, Northwest Folklife has hosted one of the highlights of the year for the maritime music community. Come hear this year's edition of the biggest gathering of Maritime performers in the Northwest -- and sing along on the chorus! The stage show will be followed by an open shanty sing in the Northwest Court Beer Garden.
