Jugband Hokum ShowSunday, May 24, 6:00-9:00 pm
Fountain Lawn Stage
This showcase shines a lighted match on a kaleidoscopic of early American music, from ragtime to jazz, blues to hillbilly, dance music to jug bands and from strange to familiar.
Echoes of the old medicine shows can be heard in the four spectacular musical outfits performing in the show. The Blair Street Mugwumps from Eugene, OR are an eccentric and amazing jug band, Bellingham’s Gallus Brothers sing, dance, juggle, and play good ol' tunes on a guitar and suitcase, the Crow Quill Night Owls from Port Townsend sing like the surface noise off an old 78 rpm record and play like a junk train on rusty zig zag tracks, and the infamous Baby Gramps, like a surreal 1920's cartoon come to life, picks an old national steel guitar like a back swamp potioner’s voodoo incantations!
