Those in the know have long heard about the intimate connections between Irish and Scottish music. But the music of the Celtic countries has spread much farther than that. Sonerion present the traditional music of Brittany in Western France, where a branch of the Gaelic language is still alive and the people retain a deep deep love for bagpipes and reeded instruments. La Famille Léger host an Acadian kitchen party, drawing tunes and songs from the French communities of Eastern Canada and the French province of Quebec, one of the main ports of entry for Irish during the Famine. Charanga, the Spanish Galician band from Southern Oregon were a big hit on this stage last year, not least because of leader Kevin Carr’s affable wit and their repertoire of funny hats. Galicia represents a small pocket of Celtic culture in Northern Spain.

At 3:30pm, please join us for the Celtic Band Scramble, in memory of our late coordinator, John Ross. To be a part of the scramble, simply sign up at the stage at least an hour before the show. Show up at 2:30pm and you’ll be assigned to a band and given some time to work up a tune or two for the audience. The best band will win a special surprise!
