Call For Artists!
Posted November 02, 2009 by Erin Doherty
Northwest Folklife is soliciting ideas for a logo/branding design to launch its new series of recordings, Northwest Roots & Branches. Northwest Roots & Branches features innovative artists from the Pacific Northwest whose music grows from traditional roots.
Live from the 2009 Festival will be the first release of this series. Some of the musical traditions we’ll be featuring include Mongolian Horsehead Fiddle, roots and reggae, French-Canadian kitchen party music, Jugband Hokum, 8 bit Chiptune, Indie Folk and new country twang.
We are looking for images that express a sense of roots and home, and/or images of the Northwest’s innovative and diverse blending of culture. Designs must be simple and effective and convey a sense of timelessness.
If selected, your name will be featured on all marketing materials of the series, including CD packaging, website, posters and online stores. Our financial resources for this project are limited, we are looking for someone who can provide a design pro bono.
Artists are encouraged to submit samples of their work for consideration immediately. The deadline is October 1, 2009.
Your portfolio may be submitted for review in the following two ways:
1 – Email us a link to your website.
2 – Email us 3 to 4 low-res jpegs or a low-res pdf of your artwork.
Please email kelli@nwfolklife.org with your submissions. Submissions received after the 1st of October will not be considered.
